Local Favorites

hawaiian foodThe Luau we recommend is at the Polynesian cultural center. Gentle waterfalls, hibiscus blossoms, palms and a meandering lagoon form the backdrop of what the Kahili Awards called "the most authentic luau in Hawai'i." This top-rated luau is a hit with visitors and kama'aina alike, and includes: Hawaiian entertainment, fresh flower greetings, and authentic Hawaiian food. In the historic town of Haleiwa we have many nice restaurants. Some of our guests’ favorites are Haleiwa Joe's – best seating is out on the lanai at sunset. They do not take reservations so arrive early to put your name in and you can enjoy some shopping or art galleries in the surrounding area. There is a very nice Sea Food restaurant called Luibueno’s. They have a wonderful chef. Both locations are a bit priceybut the best in Haleiwa. Many guests also enjoy a restaurant called Jamison’s or Breakers.

Luibueno’s Other less expensive and good restaurants include: Haleiwa Café (breakfast), Konos (great hamburgers), The Shrimp Truck, Killer Tacos and Pizza Bobs.matsumotoshaveice

You also must experience the famous Hawaiian Shave Ice before you leavethe North Shore.Matsumoto’s is the tourist location however, Aoki’s is the local favorite and you will not find the longlines found at Matsumoto’s.

Another Luau we recommend is Paradise cove. No visit to Hawai'i is complete without enjoying the experience of a traditional luau and show - and no luau is more complete, more fun and held in a more beautiful setting than the Paradise Cove Luau and Hawaiian Revue at Ko Olina on Oahu's leeward coast. From the moment guests board their comfortable luxury motor coach at any of nine convenient locations in Waikiki (transportation is included with admission), the fun never ends. Expert island guides provide a variety of information and non-stop entertainment as familiar sights like Aloha Stadium and Pearl Harbor pass by. Upon reaching Paradise cove guests are greeted with a free Aloha Mai Tai and photographed with friendly dancers and entertainers from the evening's Hawaiian Revue. Once inside the Paradise Cove Hawaiian Village, be prepared for two full hours of fun, activities or just relaxing and waiting for what promises to be one of the most spectacular sunsets you'll ever witness.
